Game company Valve has revealed new features and updates for Counter-Strike 2, which will be released in the summer.
The shooting game series *Counter-Strike*, which has been one of the most popular games in Finland for years, will be continued this summer in the form of *Counter-Strike 2*.
The first *Counter-Strike* game was released back in 2000, the super popular CS:GO again in 2012, and there have been rumors about a new game for a long time.
At the end of February, the rumor mill only accelerated when the new banner of the official *Counter-Strike: Global Offensive* Twitter account was interpreted as hinting at the upcoming game. And now CS2 is a reality.
Game company Valve calls CS2 a \”next-generation\” experience and the biggest technical leap in the history of the first-person shooter series. The game’s maps have been completely redesigned, and the light and smoke effects have also been improved.
Like straight out of the movies
Last week, Valve also offered a limited opportunity to try the game, but only on Windows. The video game map is Dust II, which takes place in a fictional city in Morocco. With the help of the closed Beta version, the company tries to find possible errors or improvements in the game.
Anomaly has drawn attention to, among other things, the new designs of weapons, i.e. skins, and sounds, which he characterizes with the word \”insane\”. According to him, for example, the flames coming out of Molotov cocktails look so real and successful that they are like straight out of the movies.
According to PC Gamer, thanks to the new and powerful Source 2 game engine, CS:2’s maps are prettier and smoke grenades have more smoke, but it’s \”basically the same game with a lot of nice updates\”.
The publication has also discovered that *Counter-Strike 2* will immediately cancel matches if Valve detects cheating. This is guaranteed by the new Valve Anti-Cheat or VAC Live system.
Will CS2 Beat Overwatch 2?
The game company Blizzard Entertainment also created too much hype and expectations for *Overwatch 2*, which in the end have come true surprisingly slowly: a new game universe was not born from that either.
According to Jesse Lennox, Valve has acted much more moderately with *Counter-Strike 2*: very little preliminary information about the giant project has leaked to the public, and the core message has been clear: *Counter-Strike 2* is recognized as a *CS* game, but it works better and looks better.
