Lahti will turn off the lights on Saturday as a gesture for climate action – the ski jumping hills will still be lit up because of the Games

The lights go out on Saturday evening, for example, in the Lahti and Nastola water towers. You can also follow the H-moment online from the roof camera of the Lahti water tower.

The city of Lahti and a number of companies participate in the adventure. For example, Aleksi’s decorative lights turn off for an hour in the evening. Earth Hour happens to be on the same Saturday as this year’s Salpausselkä Games.

Lahti will participate in the annual Earth Hour event on Saturday. During the hour, lights are turned off in different parts of the world, and the gesture is intended to highlight the acceleration of climate change and the deterioration of biodiversity.

The city of Lahti turns off the lights, for example, on its water towers and radio masts between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. There are also companies, such as Luhta, which darkens its tower block in the spirit of the campaign.

In the center, the city turns off the Christmas lights on Aleksanterinkatu, which are exceptionally still kept on because of the Salpauselka Games.

Last year, the city also turned off the lights in the jumping center, but the sports center is used by the Salpausselkä Games on the weekend. According to the event organizer, participation in Earth Hour is impossible for safety reasons (\u003cit was found impossible for safety reasons.\u003e).

At the Salpauselkä Games, there are fireworks one hour before the climate rapture, and the side program of the event continues in the sports center until late in the evening.
