Advance voting got off to the busiest start in Päijät-Häme in Asikkala

It was quiet at the advance polling station in Trio shopping centre in Lahti for a while before closing time on Wednesday evening.

On the first day of advance voting, just over five per cent of the population of Väijäthämälä went to the polls.

In Päijät-Häme, nearly 8800 voters visited advance polling stations on Wednesday.

On the first day of advance voting in the Parliamentary elections, advance voting was busiest in Asikkala, where 7.1 per cent of those entitled to vote filled in their ballot papers. The lowest turnout on the first day of early voting was in Kärkölä, where 3.7 per cent voted.

In Lahti, for example, just over five thousand people, or more than five per cent of those entitled to vote, went to the polls. Municipal data can be found on the Ministry of Justice’s election website.

In Päijät-Hämee, you can vote in many municipalities, for example at the municipal office or in libraries.

You can vote in advance at any of Finland’s polling stations (you switch to another service), of which there are almost a thousand. An identity card must be included.

Early voting ends on Tuesday of next week. The actual election day is Sunday, April 2.
