Students can vote in advance at LAB’s Lahti campus: ‘Lower threshold to vote’

Advance voting started on Wednesday morning. There was already a queue at Hämeenlinna’s main library before 10am.

For the first time, LAB-ammattikorkeakoulu’s Lahti campus now has an advance polling station.

Students wanted the opportunity to vote in their school because they believe it would increase young people’s motivation to vote.

To get people out to vote, students in overalls will go to the polls as a big band of students. Student unions all over Finland are organising similar joint ballots.

The advance voting station at Hämeenlinna’s main library was crowded on Wednesday morning, when the ballot boxes opened at ten in the morning.

The heaviest turnout is on the first and last days of early voting. On the actual election day, the flow of voters is steady.

– I have stood my ground for a long time. I chose my candidate myself without voting machines. I trust that he will come through.
