Indica, a backwards favourite, returns to the stage – nine-year break ends with a tour

Indica ends almost ten years of silence.

The band, known for hits such as Eternal Stream, went on hiatus in 2014. Now they are back with new music and a tour. The line-up has changed slightly, but lead singer Jonsu Saloma’s style remains unchanged.

Formed in 2001, Indica was a phenomenon in Finnish rock circles. Twenty years ago, the industry was still much more male-dominated than it is today, and despite their huge success, Indica was spoken of as a girl band in a somewhat dismissive tone. Its members were still teenagers when the band was formed.

The first album *Eternal Current* (2004) went gold and platinum, the second album *Windy Roads* (20066) went gold. Indica’s biggest hits were *Eternal Current*, *Scarlett*, *Down the Mountains* and *Captive of the Castle*.

Salomaa said in a press release issued today by record label Vallila Music House that the band members have been meeting regularly over the past four years to discuss new music and gigs.

– The timing now felt perfect and we are really happy that we can finally fulfill the wish of the dear fans who asked for our return.

There is a concert tour planned, on which Indica promises to perform his old favorite songs, but there is also new music coming.

The first new single, *Vuonna 95*, which draws on nostalgia, candy days and coming home times, will be released next week. As usual, the song is Salomaa’s composition and lyrics. There will also be another single coming later.
