Tens of millions of euros investment planned for Himos in Jämsä – Keskimaa plans to build new accommodation and a restaurant at the ski resort

An accommodation building is being planned for the Himos caravan park.
The planned accommodation complex in the caravan park area will increase the number of beds in Himos by ten percent.

The Himos companies and Osuuskauppa Keskimaa have signed a preliminary agreement on a new accommodation and restaurant complex. The aim is to complete the site by the winter season 2025-2026.

According to the preliminary agreement signed today, Keskimaa will buy three plots of land at the foot of the western ridge of Himos in Jämsä.

Keskimaa intends to build around 120 high-quality accommodation apartments and a restaurant in the area. The total number of beds will be around 450.

The tendering process for the design and construction of the site will start immediately.

Keskimaa will make the final construction decision during this year once the cost level is confirmed. The price of the whole is estimated at around 25–30 million euros.

There is currently a caravan park, which will be assigned a new place in the future.

– The planned accommodation complex will also meet the growing international demand, says Kuokkanen.

– We believe that, when realized, this project will make Himos an even more attractive destination in the entire Finnish leisure tourism field, Määttä estimates.

According to Määtä, apartment accommodation like the one planned for Himos is already available in other large skiing centers in the country, such as Levi and Ruka.

– One, two and three-bedroom apartments with saunas and kitchens are coming to the complex of three large properties. Until now, Himos has lacked this kind of accommodation.

In addition to the skiing center, Himos is known for its numerous big summer festivals, its golf course and the events at Himos Areena.

There is plenty of cottage accommodation in the area, and a new multi-purpose hall has also started to be built there, which will include various sports, well-being, entertainment and restaurant services.

At the end of next week, a winter festival especially aimed at young adults will be organized for the first time in Himos.
