From Lake Tsahkaljärvi, the hotel adapts well to the terrain, even though it is two storeys high, says Susanne Hulbekkmo, Development Director of Santa’s Hotel chain.

Inspiration from the wilderness

The building’s design was inspired by the surrounding wilderness.

– When you look at the hotel from the direction of Lake Tsahkaljärvi, despite the fact that the hotel has two floors, it adapts well to the terrain, says

The new hotel will create around 10 year-round jobs.

In Lapland, many tourist locations have suffered from a housing shortage in recent years, which has made it difficult to recruit employees. In Kilpisjärvi, a separate accommodation building is under construction for the staff of Santa’s Hotels.

According to Hulbekkmo, employees have been hired for the hotel from Kilpisjärvi village and elsewhere in Finland.

Santa’s Hotel Rakka is part of the Lappish Santa’s Hotels hotel chain, which previously had 22 holiday apartments in Kilpisjärvi.
