The perpetrators received prison sentences in the district court for the robbery that took place in Lahti in December 2022.

Two young adults in their twenties have been sentenced to prison for robbing a minor of a cell phone in Lahti. The crime took place in December 2022.

Another of the convicts, a woman born in 2001, had offered to buy the victim’s mobile phone sold online for 650 euros. In the transaction situation in front of Lahti City Hospital, the victim did not get his money, but the robber took the phone and tried to run away.

When the 16-year-old who sold the phone tried to prevent the escape, the man born in 1999 took out a bladed weapon and threatened to stab him.

Both perpetrators received one year and eight months in prison for the robbery. The district court also sentenced them to compensation. The prosecutor initially demanded a sentence for aggravated robbery for both of them.

The sentences handed down by the Päijät-Häme district court on Thursday are not yet legally binding. They can be appealed to the Court of Appeal.
