Kempower CEO Tomi Ristimäki says that the investment in the United States will not slow down plans to increase production in Europe as well, possibly in Lahti.

Strongly growing electric car charger manufacturer Kempower has taken a significant step in the world.

The Lahtai company says it has rented a 14,000 square meter office space for charger production in North America.

The new production facility will be completed in Durham, North Carolina, located on the east coast of the United States.

Durham is a city of more than 280,000 inhabitants, so somewhat larger than Tampere. The city is best known for product and service companies in the health sector.

Kempower’s investment is worth about 40 million dollars over the next five years.

According to Ristimäki, a significant investment in the US market is not excluded from the development of the company’s European operations.

Enough gravel. Kempower nearly quadrupled its turnover last year, and the goal for this year is to double the turnover.

– Expansion of production to Europe is planned before the end of 2025. Lahti is still included as one option for the location of this project, says Ristimäki.
