Taideluola Retreat’s fateful moments are approaching: if a new owner is not found soon, the company is threatened with bankruptcy

Entrance to the retreat.

Retret’s entire stock has been for sale since autumn. Negotiations have taken place, but no deals have been made yet.

The rescue operation of the Punkaharju Art Cave Retreat may be running out of time.

There have been negotiations about the sale of the retreat since the fall, but no deals have been made yet. It was reported that a new owner had been found in January, but more investors are needed.

The new buyer is therefore not a single person or entity, but a larger group.

– The aim is to continue to build an investor consortium for the retreat, which would consist of several investors and which would have both financial opportunities and, as an added value, a network of contacts for the development of the retreat in the future,

Mäkelä says that for various legal and financial reasons, a new owner must be found by the end of March, but Tuunaansaari Luola Oy is threatened with bankruptcy.

Mäkelä brings the situation to light in order to wake up negotiation partners, but also to attract new investors.

– With open information, the aim is to improve the probability of continuity of the Retreat’s operations.

– Kai Mäkelä’s death and, in addition, the corona, the war and the development of the economy were heavy surprises. I hope Kai Mäkelä’s cultural work gets the decision it deserves. His hope was that Retretti would be able to operate on a sustainable basis for decades to come with the investment program implemented in 2018-2022, says Sinikkä Mäkelä.

According to Sinikka Mäkelä, the Retreat can still be opened for next summer, if the new owner is locked in before the end of March.
