For 26-year-old Emma Kilpaimaa, filmmaking in the north brings a home field advantage. Kilpimaa was brought back to the north by the role of the kipaka’s little sister in Miia Tervo’s new Missile movie.
– Rölli has actually always been my dream role, the actor from Savukoski laughs.
Kilpimaa, on the other hand, plays Kaisa, Niina’s cheeky little sister. The film was shot in February in Kemijärvi and the Kemijärvi Cultural Center.
Kilpimaa admits that northern location can be a kind of home advantage.
– It’s always useful to feel certain about something. It has been quite confusing to feel at home. For the first time, I can say that when I come to work, I know where any place is.
Career started at the age of six
Kilpimaa started her career in the Rösölänperä amateur theater in Savukoski as a six-year-old little girl.
– I was very attention-seeking as a child, and I loved performing. Moving to the stage was probably quite natural.
The most important lesson that Kilpimaa learned in his nursery theater was that the audience has no choice but to like and empathize with the brave person who dares to go on stage.
– I always had the feeling that these guys like me, it doesn’t really matter how it goes.
Nauravainen Kilpimaa’s first role as a child was still not very vivid. The role was konkelo, i.e. a tree leaning against another tree.
– However, it was just the right role, a gnarly and grumpy tree that even had its own lines.
Movie Actor of the Year
Since then, his acting career has given him roles other than Konkelo’s. Kilpimaa graduated from Teatterikorkeakoulu last year and was also chosen by his colleagues as film actor of the year. The tribute also came from the film Bad Women, which is also set in Lapland.
– Of course, I’m terribly grateful and happy that that self-reliance has paid off. And mostly because there has been work.
In addition to Rölli, Kilpimaa would like to see himself, for example, as the hero of an action film.
– Everything as crazy as possible, that’s of course interesting. And in general, the fact that you could play as many different roles as possible.
