The expert of the Käyrälammi development project comes up with even the wildest hotel visions.
The city of Kouvola plans to invest approximately 3.5 million euros in improving the southern and southwestern shores of Käyrälammi. A new light traffic route, the Käyrälammenraitti, would be created in the area, along which there would be many types of stimulation and services.
– At this stage, there is no information about what kind of activity and with what volume will come to Käyrälammi in the future. The four-story hotel is only speculation at this point.
According to Hjelt, the site plan does allow the construction of multi-story buildings.
– On the south side of the swimming beach, it is possible to build up to a four-story building or buildings.
Decorate, iron and pump iron
The development plan outlines major improvements to the sports facilities in the area. Next to the already existing beach volleyball court, there would be a street basket and street volleyball courts, as well as an outdoor weight room.
The service level of the beach would be increased by building cafes and by creating space in the area for movable performance stages, which could be used, for example, in connection with music events. The comfort of the beach would also be increased by planting flowers and by placing lounge chairs and lounge chairs in the area.
A landscape path would run from the Käärälammenraiti to the vicinity of the beach, along which a pavilion or canopy would be placed as a place to view the scenery and a barbecue area. Further plans also consider dividing the current dog beach separately into areas for large and small dogs.
The city of Kouvola plans to start a follow-up plan for park and beach areas this winter. Construction could start already this year.
The price tag is almost 4 million in total
The goal is to create an increasingly diverse tourism and recreation area in an area that already has Tykkimäki amusement park, Aquapark and a public sauna nearby. The cost estimate for the development of the area is 3.9 million euros, which includes the costs of both planning and infrastructure construction. Part of the costs, i.e. about 300 thousand euros, will be offset by Kouvola Vesi.
The technical board approved the master plan of the Käyrälammi site plan area as the starting point for further planning today.
