The city of Kajaani is trying to see if an actor outside Rehjaa would be interested in developing the island. There is no intention to cut off the island from the use of city dwellers.
The city of Kajaani offers for rent the main building with its courtyard and two cottages on Rehja island. Rehja island is in Nuasjärvi about six kilometers from the city center.
In recent years, new piers have been built on the island, and the grounds and buildings of the main building have been improved. The renovation of the camping structures will continue next summer. However, several of the cabins are old and the activity on the island has waned over the years.
– Even if it’s a summer cafe or renting a cottage, what each of us can think of to develop. We are looking for a new power when the island is not really developing as a municipality.
The bidder must present a business plan or a sufficient explanation of what kind of tourism or association activities would be on the island. According to Nyström, the city has an open approach to the proposals and no activity has been excluded in the application.
– The plans do not have to be very ready. Rather, to boldly get in touch so that we can start a conversation and find actors who are interested in the island.
Nyström emphasizes that the city is not renting the entire island, but certain parts of the island are offered for rent.
– There are many passions associated with Rehja, but there is still a camping and outdoor area that can be used by everyone. The purpose is not to limit the use of the island away from city dwellers.
Based on the offers, the city will also rent the Pyörte farm on the banks of the Kajaaninjoki in Kuurna, because the current tenant’s contract is ending.
The rental period at Pyörte’s farm is three years, with the option of a two-year extension. Pyörte’s space is primarily rented to tourism and leisure companies, but offers submitted by associations are also taken into account.
In both locations, the deadline for submitting offers ends on March 12 at 12 noon.
