Erkki Lasonpalo has been appointed Artistic Director of the Mikkeli Music Festival

Mikkeli is already a familiar city to conductor Erkki Lasonpalo.

Lasonpalo has been the conductor of the Mikkeli and Lappeenranta City Orchestras since 2020.

– It is a great honour to take the helm of a traditional, high quality and superbly run festival. Having followed the festival closely over the past few years, I can say that Mikkeli Music Festival has a good balance between international, national and local,” Lasonpalo says in a press release.

Lasonpalo has been the conductor of the Mikkeli and Lappeenranta City Orchestras since 2020. He will be the artistic director of the Heinävesi Music Festival from 2014 until next summer.

Lasonpalo also has a long-standing collaboration with the Vivo Symphony Orchestra for Young Musicians.

Mikkeli’s music festival is held between July and August. The theme of the festival this coming summer is love.
