Destinations in Eastern Finland took the top spot in the search for shepherd weeks.
The five most popular destinations for the Metsähallitus Shepherd Weeks are in Eastern Finland.
Metsähallitus received 15 525 applications for the summer shepherd weeks, which is a couple of thousand fewer than in the previous year.
In the top five were the two most popular sites of the Koli National Park’s Shepherd Weeks, the Seppälä and Lakkala farms.
There were 1216 applications to replace Seppälä. Only Neitvuori’s Hiidenmaa estate in Etelä Savo was better than it.
Kolin’s Lakkala farm was the fourth most popular.
The most important purpose of herding is the maintenance of valuable traditional environments.
