Lahti’s electric city bikes, the Mankels, will double the number of stations for the 2023 season, doubling the number of bikes available for hire to 500.
Lahti’s city bike network is expanding this year.
The first Mankels appeared on the streets of Lahti in autumn 2021. In 2022, Mankels were available for rent at 30 stations around the city. By summer 2023, there will be 60-65 stations.
New stops will be added at least in Karisto, Karisma Shopping Centre and Renkomäki.
– Jalkaranta is also being expanded. The network will expand somewhat in every air direction, says Kivineva.
The proposals for the locations of the stations will still be visible to the public on the city of Lahti’s website, where changes can be submitted.
More Mankels in the future?
– After all, it’s a long way to get there, and there should be so many more stations. It would then be somewhere else. In the next phase, Ahtiala is clearly the area where we will expand, says Keskiväli.
The almond season starts on the 17th of April and lasts for seven months.
