The Administrative Court has resolved the dispute regarding the enhanced support unit for asylum seekers in Lahti. The city of Lahti’s decision to stop operations in violation of the site plan and building permit was justified according to the law.
According to the court, the city’s decision was not contrary to the principles of equal treatment, and it was not based on the ethnic origin, citizenship, state of health or age of the residents.
\”As mentioned in the complaints, the activity in question is not comparable to the housing of asylum seekers in individual apartments,\” the decision of the administrative court explains.
The administrative court extended the deadline for the termination obligation until the end of April this year.
The unit in Lahti’s Tapanila, a former nursing home, is Finland’s only reception center for mental health rehabilitation.
