Bess achieved something at the Emma gala that few have been able to do. In the picture, Bess is celebrating with her table party.

The singer won four Emma awards on Friday. Bessi’s success story, based on the Ram pam pam megahit, is unmatched, writes music journalist Ville Vedenpää.

Although it’s only been a year since everything happened, the singer received four Emma awards on Friday. It is a hard feat that few have been able to achieve.

Bess’s awards came mainly because of the *Ram pam pam* song. It was last year’s biggest hit in Finland. It was the most played song on streaming services and radio. You can find a similar sovereign hit that hooked the entire nation in recent history.

Sure, Bess has released other songs, but the popularity of *Ram pam pam* is in a class of its own. The song’s success shows how important one big hit is today. There is so much music published these days that very few reach the top of Spotify’s charts or radio playlists.

However, it’s worth looking for a perfect pop hit, because when it breaks properly, the song plays in Finns’ minds all year long and becomes a national treasure.

The importance of UMK in Bess’s success should not be forgotten. The Eurovision qualifier brought an unknown artist to the attention of the general public with a surge that many artists can only dream of.

And the last thing to consider is Bess herself. The artist of the year cannot be awarded without being captivating as a performer and personality. The cheerful Bess has now claimed that place and she is the Bess of the whole nation.

At this year’s UMK huuma, many have said out loud, even abroad, that Bess’s *Ram pam pam* should have been chosen as Finland’s Eurovision representative last year instead of The Rasmus. It would have been interesting to see how far the biggest Finnish hit of last year would have gone in the competition.
