The most important domestic awards in the music industry gather the cream of the crop of entertainment artists. Yle broadcasts the mood live from the gala’s red carpet starting at 3:45 p.m.
The music industry’s Emma gala turns 40 years old. For the first time in 1983, the Finnish Association of Audio and Video Recording Producers ÄKT, which organized the award gala, gave out only five awards.
The Emma gala was seen on television for the first time in 1992 on Yle. At first, the Finnish music award gala was celebrated on a small scale.
Over the years, the Emma gala has grown into a large public event, where spectacular performances are seen. The award ceremony has been held at arenas in Helsinki and Espoo, among others.
This year, the Emma gala will take place in the Helsinki Ice Hall. IFPI Finland, the association of music producers, awards music creators for their achievements in the past year in more than 20 different categories. The new nomination series this year are Alternative of the Year and Musician of the Year.
