The final filming of Michelle MacLaren’s new psychological thriller will take place this week and next week in Inari and Ivalo.
About 220 film professionals in Lapland are involved in the production of the series, which is filmed in five countries. The production leaves a pot of 1.7 million euros for local service providers.
Locations for Hollywood-level production were found in Inari
Such a large production brings euros to local service providers. In the filming, various accommodation and food services from companies are used, among other things.
Mukkala has been involved in the largest Finnish television series productions. He describes the making of Constellation as a Hollywood-level production.
– The main director of the series, Michelle MacLaren, who is a top director from Hollywood, is really happy and taken from this area.
Constellation will be seen on the Apple TV streaming service at the end of 2023. The series is produced by British-German *Turbine Studios*. *Film Service Finland* is responsible for the production in Finland.
The AV production incentive attracts international filming to Finland
An important reason for the selection of Lapland as the filming location for Constellation was also the AV production incentive, which attracts international film and television production to Finland.
– Productions that will be filmed in Finland and larger-scale domestic productions will receive payment credits from Business Finland. That is, when they spend money locally, then 25 percent of it is paid back, explains Film Service Finland’s Chief Marketing Officer Anni Wessman.
In recent years, Lapland has been seen as an interesting environment for making Finnish films as well. In December, *Heroes of the Arctic Circle 4* and *Sisu*, shot in Lapland, were released. More Lapland hits the big screen during February, when *Jope ite* and *Skimbagirls* get their premieres.
