According to the awardees, the concrete sauna does not defy Finnish sauna architecture.
Serlachius museums Art Sauna has been awarded as Concrete Structure of the year 2022. The art sauna is located in Mänttä-Vilppula in front of the Gösta museum, on the shore of Lake Melasjärvi.
The competition was organized by Betoniteollisuus ry. The sauna’s frame structures and facades, as well as the structures of the outdoor spaces, are cast from concrete. According to the awardees, the concrete sauna does not defy Finnish sauna architecture.
The jury commends Taidesauna for its individual, innovative and skillful architectural design. Competent construction and particularly high-quality execution, where concrete plays a visible role down to the details, also receive recognition.
The Concrete Structure of the Year competition has been organized since 1970, and it was now organized for the 53rd time. The purpose of the competition is to make known and promote Finnish concrete architecture, technology and construction.
