Man armed with a gas gun tried to enter a restaurant in Lahti – ended up in police custody

A man in his twenties tried to enter a restaurant in Lahti city centre on Thursday night, but ended up being caught by the police.

According to the Häme police, the restaurant’s steward informed the emergency call centre on Thursday night at half past three that a man who had tried to enter the restaurant had been found in possession of a gun.

A young man had tried to enter the restaurant, but the stewards had refused him entry because he was intoxicated. Nervous about the situation, the man had lifted his shirt to reveal a gun on his belt.

Two law enforcers had caught the man and handcuffed him. A gas atomizer was also found in the possession of the man who had verbally threatened the orderlies.

The threater was taken to the police station in a police patrol, where it was found that the pistol in the man’s possession was also a gas gun. The man is suspected of a firearm offense and illegal threat.
