Oulu Theatre publishes its own equality and non-discrimination plan

The aim of the new artistic director is that the Oulu City Theater is not just a house that looks like the majority of the Finnish population.
Alma Lehmuskallio wants to reflect on, among other things, whether certain patterns are repeated in the role-playing of plays. Photo from 2020.

The aim is to make the theatre’s own values visible, for example in the way it presents the world and the human image it conveys.

The Oulu Theatre has prepared its first ever Equality and Equal Opportunities Plan, which will be published in the coming weeks. Until now, the theatre has been following the similar plan of the City of Oulu.

– Am I able to think critically about role-playing, am I repeating a certain thing. So that I don’t take the gender division of the play as a given.
