A buyer has been found for Retret, but sales negotiations are still ongoing. The owner hopes to close the deal in February or March.

Saimaa Taideluola Retretti, which has been suffering from financial difficulties, was still looking for a financier for its operations last summer, but in early autumn it was decided to sell its entire shareholding.

A buyer has already been found, but sales negotiations are still ongoing.

– Because of its uniqueness, Retretti needs an owner who knows its history and has sufficient resources. Such a buyer has been found for the future of Retretti.

At this stage, the details of the deals are not revealed, but the purchase price is calculated in millions of euros. Mäkelä estimates that the deals will be completed in February-March.

Mäkelä also says that everyone involved hopes that the Retreat will be opened next summer.

– The hope of everyone, both the seller and the buyer, the Punkaharju-Savonlinna area and especially the entire Finnish science, art and culture activities is that the Retreat should be opened in the summer of 2023, says Mäkelä.
