In cooperation between Päijät-Häme municipalities and LAB University of Applied Sciences, 22 childcare workers will be trained as early childhood education social workers.
In Päijät-Häme, extensive cooperation has been launched to improve the availability of staff in day-care centres, says the City of Lahti.
In cooperation between Päijät-Häme municipalities and LAB University of Applied Sciences, nursery nurses already working in kindergartens are trained as early childhood education social workers.
A total of 22 childminders will start their studies in January. The nurses will work in day-care centres in Asikkala, Hollola, Lahti, Orimattila and Padasjoki.
The training is a response to the upcoming change in eligibility requirements. After 2030, at least two-thirds of the kindergarten personnel must have the qualification of early childhood education teacher or social worker.
In Päijät-Hämee, the availability of early childhood education staff was wanted to be anticipated well in advance. So far, there have been no similar difficulties in terms of availability as, for example, in the capital region.
In addition to the working life cooperation between the municipalities and LAB, the regional early childhood education development group and university representatives have also discussed the various training paths of early childhood education teachers.
