Messila has been a little quieter since Christmas than last season

Sami Mattiniemi, the ski resort’s slope manager, hopes that people will find out about the slope conditions from the slope cameras and on the spot, rather than making hasty decisions based on weather forecasts alone.

Weather variations have been visible on the Messilä ski slopes in Hollola.

Mattiniemi hopes that people will trust slope information from the ground, and not be immediately alarmed by news in the tabloids about severe winter weather or frosts, for example.

– For example, on Tuesday last week, some articles called for a day off and staying at home. We had three millimetres of snow on the slopes, but the slope was empty,” says Mattiniemi.

According to Mattiniemi, the same phenomenon dropped, for example, the number of visitors at the Epiphany to a third of a normal day.

Up-to-date information on slope cameras is available at least on the website of the Messilä ski center.

According to Mattiniemi, after Christmas, the number of visitors to Messilä has been slightly lower than last season.
