Vöyri, recovering from the viisis, is now expecting tourists: “We are not used to people coming to Vöyri from all over Finland”
Vöyry is now recovering from last week’s Eurovision frenzy and thinking about how to reward KAJ.
The overwhelming KAJ interest has filled the booking calendars for airbnb places in Vöyry well into the summer.
– Tourism will take on a new dimension, says *Havulehto*, who was reached at a cleaning event for the quiz.
According to Havulehdo, interest in KAJ and Vöyr has come not only from Finland but also from abroad, including the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation, the BBC in the UK and, of course, Sweden.
At the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday, Norrvalla Sports Institute had people as far away and close.
– There were a lot of Finnish speakers on the spot. We are not used to coming to Vöyri all over Finland, he says.
Vöyri is planning to reward Kaj, but its schedule is not yet known. Last Sunday it was reported that Vöyri was going to reward Kaj members at least by building a sauna in the municipality.
According to Havulehto, the first week goes by recovering from last week’s hustle and bustle.
– Now we are trying to internalize what really happened, he says.
Thanks for the identity work
Havulehto praises Kaj for the work that the band has done for the identity of the municipality of Vöyr, the dialect and the Swedish -speaking Finnish -speaking Finnish.
He says he has learned at the age of seven that, for example, at school, he should not speak Vöyr’s dialect, but must speak a book language.
– Now somewhere in Korso, Vantaa, the summer is sung by the Vöyr dialect.
According to Havulehto, the fourth place of the Eurovision Song Contest by Kaj is very good, although many thought in advance the band would win the whole race.
Initially, Kaj joined the melodifestivalen of Ruos because it felt fun, he recalls.
However, Havulehto also says he was expecting that Kaj would have received more points from the jury.
– We are used to Finland that Finland will not get those number one. After all, they really aren’t like two before, Lord and wrapper, he says.
