Madrid restricts access to the airport to prevent homeless people from staying there
The Spanish airport authority AENA is taking preventive action to stop homeless people from staying overnight in terminals.
Certain parts of the terminal are only accessible with a boarding pass. Access to the halls is also granted to authorised escorts and employees.
The restrictions will be in place for a few days on a trial basis.
According to Spanish media reports, there are estimated to be a few hundred homeless people staying overnight at the airport.
