The district court has put North Finlandia Travels, which runs Paljaka’s slopes and slope restaurants, into bankruptcy.

The bankruptcy application was submitted to the Kainuu district court at the end of November. The creditors of North Finlandia Travels Oy are currently the Swedish Tax Administration and the Mutual Pension Insurance Company Elo.

– We still hope that the slopes will be open for skiing holidays, that’s the belief we’re going with right now, says Toni Haapala.

However, he does not know how to take a position on how the action should be carried out in practice.

– It’s about the bankruptcy of an individual company, and it doesn’t matter to Puolanga. There are many other actors in the area and different activities of different companies, now it is a matter of one individual company, says mayor Harri Peltola.

According to Peltola, the prevailing situation mainly causes a delay in the operation of the area.

– I don’t think that this will bring anything to the development of the area other than the current delay in bankruptcy, but this will not have a decisive effect on the development of the entire area, states Mayor Harri Peltola.

He can’t detail the reasons for the bankruptcy, but says that he understands on a general level the effects of energy costs caused by the current world situation on companies.
