The city of Lappeenranta is planning a new playground for the fortress.

This is clear from the city’s recent playground program, which aims to renew 54 playgrounds across the city over the next ten years. In addition, the city builds new playgrounds and removes old ones.

The goal of the city is to have families to play at the playground up to a quarter walk in the town plan area. The city of Lappeenranta currently has a total of 78 playgrounds.

Lappeenranta is expected to be renewed each year in about five playgrounds over the next ten years.

Fortress playground attraction

The city intends to build new playgrounds in places that have never had one before. For example, in the historic fortress area, there is a reflection on a theme playground that could become a tourist attraction.

In addition, the city is planning new playgrounds at least in Korvenkylä, Nuijamaa, Kaukasa and Kourula Ukkopuisto.

Renovation is already being done

The first renovation according to the program is already underway at the Laihia Playground.

The Voisalmi Playground is a broader destination this year. In addition, small renovation measures will be carried out during the rest of the year at the playgrounds of Kesämäki, Pikisaari, Kivistönpuisto and Rantapuisto.

A significant reform is experienced by the beach park in the harbor, with the city expanding the playground. The traffic city, on the other hand, is planned for an unobstructed playground.

The Multamäki Park has a sandbox and a couple of rocking boards.
Multamäenpuistikko along Kauppakatu is one of the playgrounds to be removed.

11 playgrounds will be removed

Over the next ten years, the city will remove 11 playgrounds, of which this year will depart the first two playgrounds: Multamäenpuistikko behind Kauppakatu R-Kiosk and Kanavanranta Park, located in Kanavansuu, located near the second-preserved Canal Bridge Park.

Other playgrounds to be removed later include Kangastuvanpuisto Park, Luukanrinne, Kastarinpuisto, Palonotkonpuisto, Partek, Vellamonpuisto, Tillikanpuisto and Tuomipuisto, and Kölhinpuisto Park, which is mainly senior park.

The total cost of the renovation of the playgrounds is EUR 2.8 million over ten years.
