WWF follows the nesting of Lapland owls in a live broadcast
On Thursday, the WWF started a live broadcast from the Lapland Owl’s nest. The camera is set up in North Karelia.
The nest is built by the chicken and is located in the old birch at a height of about 10 meters. The owl is now incubating four eggs, and the chicks hatch after about a month of incubation. The live broadcast also follows the launch and the beginning of the life of potential chicks until Midsummer.
In 2023, the WWF photographed Lapland owls in Keminmaa. At that time, there were over one million views.
Lapland owl is a large bird of prey, with a wing spacing of up to 1.5 meters. It is one of the most aware owls in Finland. Every year in Finland, an estimated 300-2,000 Lapland owls are nesting in Finland.
The live broadcast can be followed on the WWF website.
