Police have begun an investigation into a dam that destroyed highly endangered sea trout
The city contractor built a dam on the sea trout spawning ground in Mätäjoki in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki.
The Helsinki Police Department has undergone a preliminary investigation in connection with a dam in the Mätäjoki River Pitäjänmäki in Helsinki. At the end of April, 10 tons of rocks were felled into the renovated spawning and chick of the sea trout in the river.
The stones were built a dam, which was intended to protect the spawning ground. The contractor of the City of Helsinki built a dam.
However, according to current information, the dam was made in the wrong position. It destroyed trout chicks and spawning nests.
According to the Helsinki Flying Fishermen’s Association, at least eight sea trout spawning nests were left under the dam, with up to 10,000 boys in total.
Police find out why the dam was built in the wrong position. Later, the stones were removed from the area. The pre -trial investigation is in the early stages and any criminal titles will be specified as the investigation progresses.
Police are continuing to interrogations and other clarification activities in connection with the case.
