Lahti limits electric kicks to parks in the center
The law that regulates micro -movement is coming into force. The law gives municipalities an even better opportunity to guide the boards rented by the companies rented ..
Lahti is planning changes to parking for rented electric kicks in and around the city center.
According to the proposal, the board could only be parked in the locations designated for them. In addition to the city center, the parking spaces would also come at least to the port, the Pikku-Vesku Park and the travel center. There are dozens of places in the preliminary proposal.
The bill proposes to introduce a micro -traffic license. In the future, companies rented by electric kicks should have that permission. If companies renting the boards are violating permit conditions, for example, the municipality may point out the offenses and, in extreme cases, cancel the permit.
The government issued a bill to Parliament in March, but the law is not yet valid.
Forced to guide the box in the future
There are already parking screens for electric kick boards in Lahti. Their use is currently based on people’s volunteering and places are reflected in the applications of some operators.
When the new law comes into force, the situation changes. With these prospects, the change would be 2026.
– In the future, parking will no longer be possible elsewhere than in the locations designated by that particular area, says Juhana Polojärvi, a traffic engineer.
In the application, parks are \”forced areas\ meaning that there is no longer any parking outside. There are currently two companies renting electric kicks in Lahti. There are about two thousand boards.
The city is currently collecting feedback and proposals from the city dwellers, including the location of parking spaces in a survey on its website.
The start and end times of the season should be defined and speed limits at night should be discussed according to Polojärvi.
