Kerimaa Holiday Village in Savonlinna received new Italian owners.

Italian tone was received this winter in the Savonlinna region.

Three Italian companies decided to invest in Kerimaa Holiday Village in Kerimäki. The store included a central block, including a restaurant, two huts, maintenance buildings and building rights.

They got to know Kerimaa on their vacation and heard that the place might be on sale.

In addition to the holiday village

Civil engineer Locatell had the idea that they could invest in a Finnish destination. He attracted two of his friends to be partners. Duemilia SRL, a Bergamo specialist in travel destinations, is the largest shareholder in the Kerimaa Central Quarter.

Locatell’s own company is involved as a smaller investor, but Locatelli and his immediate circle are handling practical matters in Kerimaa.

Locatelli plans to visit Kerimaa several times during the summer. He also acquired a summer cottage from South Savo.

Irene Zanella, who performs legal studies, helps his boyfriend in the holiday village, for example in translation and communication.

Banking issues slowed down

The couple describes that Finnish bureaucracy has not been a problem for them in business. The challenges, on the other hand, were posed by a bank ID that lasted throughout the spring.

– There are many websites in Finland that require strong login, ie bank IDs. It was difficult for a foreigner to get them, Locatelli says.

There are plenty of positive things in Finland. Locatelli chooses lakes and peace from Finland as a favorite.

– This is a magical place. I’ve never seen so many lakes and peaceful forests anywhere else.

Italians are grateful for the help of locals. Locatelli says that the locals have been interested in them and offered to help, for example, in goods purchases.

The restaurant building in Kerimaa becomes an Italian restaurant, which includes traditional foods from northern Italy.

Locatelli and Zaneella spend the day in Kerimaa with their immediate circle.

For customers, Kerimaa is kept open during the summer months. The following winter, the place is likely to be closed, but Locatelli hopes for a year -round holiday destination in Kerima.

An entrepreneurial couple is waiting for Italian tourists in the area. Locatelli recalls that there are direct flights from Bergamo to Lappeenranta, which is two hours to Savonlinna. The holiday village plans to organize its own rides from Savonlinna to Kerimaa.

The water dispute will continue at least until autumn

There are cottages in Kerimaa Holiday Village, which remain under the possession of Finnish company Puikkari Oy. Puikkari is undergoing years of legal proceedings on water disputes. The matter will be discussed in the Court of Appeal after the summer.

According to Italian owners, their action does not affect their activities.
