A pink pig and duck cross attracted fans from Polvijärvi for a 600 km trip to Turku

Students at a secondary school in Polvijärvi, North Karelia, fell in love with Posankka last autumn during their art studies.

A long-standing dream of the students of Polvijärvi Secondary School finally came true on Monday: they were able to go on a field trip to Turku.

– That also describes our team really well,” Mustonen laughs.

Riia Lehikoinen and Veera Räsänen think Posankka is both cute and weird.

– Finally we are here! We fell in love at Posankka school and it’s wonderful that we got sponsors to support our trip,” says Räsänen.

– To be honest, I waited for Posankka to be much bigger. But it’s quite a huge size in the end, says Riia Lehikoinen, who has been dressed in a Posanka shirt she received as a Christmas present.

Sponsors behind the dream

The class trip to Turku, a Polvijärvi high school student with about 4,000 inhabitants, would not have been successful without financial support. Thus, in the autumn, teacher Eeva Mustonen approached the city of Turku and told how students at their school were completely fond of the Posanka, which was nourished along Helsingintie.

After a short social media campaign, several companies and other players were ready to financially help North Karelia’s leading Posanka fans.

– Without them we would not have gone here. We are from a small town and our budget is small. Now we are here and it is incredible, says Mustonen, who is made by their students in a posanka outfit.
