Päijät-Häme Central Hospital ordered significantly fewer surgeries for its patients this HUSita year than before. Surgeries have had to be prioritized, and treatment guarantees are often not fulfilled.
The lack of beds in university hospitals and the shortage of personnel are reflected in the special medical care services ordered from university hospitals from other parts of the country.
Päijät-Häme Central Hospital belongs to the special responsibility area of \u200b\u200bHUS Helsinki University Hospital.
– The change is big, taking into account that the purchases ordered from university hospitals tend to increase every year just as a result of the price increase.
Urgent and emergency surgeries take place, but otherwise HUS and the central hospital have to prioritize measures. The situation increases treatment queues and affects the fact that the treatment guarantee is not necessarily fulfilled when surgery appointments have to be moved.
– This year there have been an exceptional number of patients for whom the treatment guarantee has not been maintained, both here and in most of Finland. This especially applies to surgeries, Nieminen states.
