The passport will be valid for ten years at a time

The maximum period of validity of passports will be extended from five years to ten years, according to a government press release. The decision was taken at a government mid-term meeting on Wednesday.

The Communication states that the maximum period of validity will be extended, taking into account possible exceptions for safety reasons.

The extension of the validity period to ten years was already proposed about a year ago in the working group on standards by the parliamentary groups of the governing parties.
