Lahti Pelicansi’s change of ownership remains a rumour: industry figure does not confirm
Whether the Kemppi family became the owners remained a matter of speculation. Pelicans is aiming for financial growth next season as well.
After a financially challenging season, ice hockey league club Pelicans is not looking for a new boost from a change of ownership.
– One small shareholder has given up his ownership and it has been transferred to another.
According to Pöyhönen, the 2024-2025 sporting boom has not been reflected in the owners’ desire to sell their shares.
– We have a committed ownership. When the upwind has been sailed, the owners have been in the work, says Pöyhönen.
As an example of the work, the CEO mentions the already paid seven -digit subordinated loan for which the guarantees were found by the owners.
Pelicans Group seeks growth
The Pelicans company’s current financial year ends at the end of April. The number of potential losses or other CEO does not yet want to assess.
– The challenge has happened as the business of the company is growing and growth is funded, says Lauri Pöyhönen.
The Pelicans played the most expensive team of their club history. In addition, the audience average for the home match was below the pre -calculated target.
The new season’s budget is already well planned. In addition to hockey, the Pelicans Group, which runs restaurant activities, employs about 90 people and, according to the CEO, the budget must be at EUR 11-12 million if the current level is to be maintained.
– In business and marketingly, we have a will and the desire to grow even bigger.
In the near future, more information is expected on a study led by the Lahti Ice Hall company, which outlines the means and costs of how the current ice rink can be converted into a multi -purpose arena.
The Pelicans have given their own views as one of the users of the hall.
