Turpeinen’s Elolliset is the second Finnish novel to enter the prestigious competition.

Turpeinen’s novel won the Helsingin Sanomat Literature Prize in 2023, and the novel was also nominated for the Finlandia Prize. Turpeinen’s work features an extinct Steller sea lion.

The novel has been sold in nearly 30 language versions.
