In Ibe’s opinion, it is wrong for an artist not to own his own art. That’s why the rapper will never return to the label again.
– I don’t think that’s the right way to support an artist,” says Kärki.
These are his thoughts in the midst of change. Less than a week earlier, an announcement was made about the closure of the record label Skorpion. Kärki has been both an artist and a shareholder.
– We were an independent record company, but a record company always works like a record company,” says Kärki.
– It’s pretty big value questions that who owns music, who has the rights to what and how much someone deserves.
This arrangement on which the pop industry is based has begun to disturb the top day by day.
– You’ve probably ever heard that the music industry is pretty terrible. It’s kind of true. In my opinion, it is absurd that when an artist does a thing, a person wants to own it.
The idea of stopping the record company did not only come from the top of the long-ripened opinion. Rather, the company, together, applied for the right way to act in the industry.
– At some point, it started to loosen this, Kärki says.
He is grateful for the school.
Although Kärki also has good and skilled people on the payroll of the record companies, he still does not believe that many young artists know what they are going to do when a record deal is struck.
– Of course, the artist needs something to start. Then the record companies are ready to help and invest, but those things may not always go very fairly in the long run.
Kärki has been thinking about a new way of investing in music where funding would no longer own an artist’s record, but could still get a slice of the income of the work.
– People have to work together without working in giant companies.
Ibe in English
Kärki says he has no knowledge of Mibelius’s identity.
– I had a song I wanted to put out, but I didn’t see it in my plan. It came to the idea that I couldn’t leak that piece myself. I sent a message to Mibelius that I would have one song for you.
Kärki says that 75 % of the music he made will never see daylight. So an account like Mibelius is a way to release again with a relaxed way. As if a new soundcloud.
For the first time, Kärki released a song in Youtube, where he was completely rapped in English. Such a work was shaped in the middle of a Japanese trip, where the rapper spent time with the locals.
– Sometimes music is really schematic, so I had to revive that hobby again. Skip the middlemen and interim.
After the trip, the tip has blinking more songs in English, which will at least remain unpublished.
Make a stop
In the public eye, a picture of life is painted as a wonder. Sometimes he thinks about the definitions of time and space, sometimes water.
– I have a little cursed that I have spent so much time to look at things at different angles that nowadays I can overturn any thoughts, Kärki says.
– That’s why I just have to stop when I have to empty all that.
A year ago, Kärki suddenly announced that he would cancel all the gigs of his tour. The reason was the exhaustion of work and the resulting depression. Half a year, the tip focused on recovery, to do just a little day: take a shower or play video game.
Now, every day you also have to be empty. This summer, the tip has only agreed on one gig, in August, for Blockfests in Tampere.
The idea of idleness has also begun to talk around the world. Yle wrote last month how the right luxury in the hurry is time, silence and freedom to be away from, for example, Somme.
Can I have a good time to stop to stop?
– I feel that there is so much to give that you don’t mind stopping. But then at the same time, yes I do all this in a very different way, he says.
– I haven’t done anything today, just eaten breakfast. And after that, I thought about going to enjoy the sunny weather.
