More Northern Lights cabins to be built in Ranua – deviation from the plan approved
After the municipality of Ranua has approved the application for a derogation, building permits are still required before construction can begin.
At its meeting on Monday, the municipal council of Ranua approved the application for a derogation for northern lights cabins.
The background to the application is the Ranua-based Hyvinvointimaja Ranzo Oy, which applied for a derogation to place ten northern lights cabins in the Arctic Guesthouse
The waterfront area is reserved in the zoning plan for the preservation of mobile Northern Lights lodges, where it is currently used. Arctic Guesthouse
There is plenty of demand for accommodation
The buildings would be partly outside the construction area according to the plan. The entire property is in the town plan for the tourism service area.
– There is demand for these cabins. The last winter season was congested and there is an order for additional accommodation in Ranua, says Leppänen.
Once the municipality of Ranua is approved, the application for derogation is still required for building permits before construction is started. According to the entrepreneur, the goal is for at least some of the cottages to be used for the upcoming winter season.
