The Lahti World Cup organizer has complained about recovering government grants to the Administrative Court
The Ministry of Education and Culture charges EUR 154,000 government grants for the Salpausselkä festive competitions. Salppuri Oy has appealed to the Administrative Court of recovery.
The Ministry of Education and Culture awarded a total of EUR 220,000 for the Salpausselkä competition and the international responsibility seminar. Grants were granted in 2022 for the organization costs of the events and for any loss of any loss from the race. The decision to recover was made in the ministry last summer.
According to Kolu, the net effect of recovery remains around € 123,000 because taxes have been paid according to the original grant. Salppuri Oy also has tax assets on the subject.
Salppuri Oy has made a letter of complaint to the Hämeenlinna Administrative Court to reasonable or even non-recovery. The Administrative Court has not yet made a decision.
The last installment will be paid during this month
Prior to the appeal, Salppuri Oy made an appeal to the ministry, but the recovery decision did not change. According to Kolu, installments have been taken into account in the income statement for the ongoing financial year.
– It’s not new. It has been known for a long time and has also taken into account all the company’s activities. Salppuri Oy has met its obligations in accordance with the payment plan, and the last installment will be paid according to the agreed schedule this month, Kolu tells Yle by email.
Recovery is rare. In recent years, they have also been targeted at the Erämo-Veikko (EUR 102,142) in Kuusamo. In addition, EUR 45,000 from Vierumäki Country Club, EUR 10,000 from the Finnish Curling Federation, € 3,163 for the Squash Association and EUR 3,083 per Hockey League.
– All of these events produced a profit, which is why the grant was recovered by the share of the event. There are a few such recovery or aid returns every year in the sports industry.
The Ski Association has recently been in financial difficulties. A year ago, the Ski Association said it had made a loss of nearly EUR 2 million at the Group level. Salppuri Oy is owned by the Ski Association and the Lahti Ski Club. Both own 50 % of the company.
