The district heating network is studied with a helicopter and it is not a waste of money
Flight mapping also provides information on parts of the network that require repair in the future.
Lahti Energia charts the condition of its Kaukolampi network with helicopters and thermal cameras from the beginning of the week. Flights are made in Lahti, Hollola and Asikkala.
Work can cause air noise. On average, pipeline mapping is carried out every two years. It provides information on possible pipe crops and sites requiring repair. One inspection costs around € 20,000.
The Rosian says that thermal cameras also survive points where, for example, the thermal insulation of the pipe is starting to be on its way. Then the repair can be started before the pipe breaks. That too saves money.
Droons have also come to help in recent years. They are helpful in finding a problem with smaller areas. For example, a Rosistian mentions pipe leaks where the leak is known, even with a few hundred meters. In this case, the droon can quickly find an accurate place.
\”If there is no need to shoot the entire network, then the droon can make such precision attacks,\” says Rosilainen.
