The number of primary applicants for Lab for fine art education in Lahti in the fall of Lahti almost doubled from last year, while the training was still held in Lappeenranta.

The Lab University of Applied Sciences, launched in the fall of 2025 at Lahti Lab University of Applied Sciences, has attracted a great deal of interest. At the end of last year, Lab University of Applied Sciences decided to transfer fine arts education from Lappeenranta to Lahti.

The spring joint application for the training program had over 164 applicants, which is clearly more than a year earlier. Last year, there were 92 applicants. The number of primary applicants for training doubled from 43 applicants last year to 84 applicants.

In Lahti, the first 36 students in the training program will begin their studies at the Institute of Design in the Mukkula campus in the fall.

According to Tytti-Lotta Ojala, the reasons for the growth of the number of applicants in the spring joint application have not yet been investigated.
