In Lapland, a record number of limit checks during season

More border checks were carried out during the past air tourism season than ever before. The air traffic season for the winter season of Lapland ended in March.

A record number of border checks was carried out during the Lapland air travel season.

According to a news release from the Lapland Border Guard, a total of 355,682 border checks were carried out during the flight season in October-March, which is more than any of the previous season.

External border checks are performed for people from outside the Schengen area. At Lapland Airports, they are virtually concerned with direct flights.

The number of border checks in the last record season of 2023-2024 increased by 10 %.

Compared to the pre -corona pandemic pre -coronary winter 2018-2019, growth was 49.6 per cent. The largest growth in Rovaniemi was the biggest growth at the Lapland Border Guard.

In February, for example, Rovaniemi carried out 46 % more border controls on external border traffic than last year.
