For salmon fishing two fish quota in Tornionjoki
The fishing regulations of the Tornionjoki River are tightened to protect the natural salmon stock. Next summer, at most two salmon may be requested in Tornionjoki, regardless of the method of catching.
A new fishing regulation, two salmon catch, will be introduced this year in Tornionjoki. The provision applies to the entire fishing season and all forms of fishing in the river.
– After two salmon, salmon fishing must be stopped for the rest of the season, according to a news release from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
The Finnish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Swedish Maritime and Water Water Affairs justify the two seasonal quotas by securing the natural salmon stock in Tornionjoki. The commissioning of the seasonal quota was also widely booked in stakeholder statements.
Finland and Sweden justify other tightening of the future fishing season with the poor rise of the Tornionjoki natural salmon, which is why fishing pressure in the river and sea should be reduced.
– The agreed measures protect large salmon in terms of reproduction and biodiversity that rise to the river at the beginning of the fishing season and which have been settled in the river in the river at the end of the fishing season, according to a news release from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
Other changes to salmon fishing
Salmon fishing will begin in the Tornionjoki this year on June 9, and the last fishing day is August 15.
However, after mid -August, salmon fishing is still allowed until 25. Until the day, lures with unexpected hooks and all the salmon of more than 65 centimeters of catch are immediately released.
The Ministry justifies this with the conditions of operating conditions for fishing tourism companies. In addition, studies have shown that salmon will withstand treatment in August better than early summer.
In addition, states agreed that a maximum of four free boats can be used for fishing by boat, and the use of the lifting hook is also banned. The restrictions support both salmon, trout and grayling strains.
Finland also suggested to Sweden the delay of trapping fishing at sea and fishermen -specific restrictions on the quantities, but the countries did not reach a consensus.
