The nesting of the hustlers may have been intentionally disturbed in Laukaa – the terrain is now installed on surveillance cameras

The rush often rejects his nest if the mother is disturbed when it incubates eggs.

In Laukaa, Central Finland, it is suspected that owls have been deliberately disturbed. According to the Central Finland ELY Center, harassment may have been at least two years.

Intentional nesting harassment is a nature conservation crime.

According to Hakkar, one person might have moved near the nest in the light of current information.

– There are no clearly verified times for one or two years, but according to speeches the narrator may be more. In the terrain, near the nest, we have deliberately moved so that the emo has left.

Cameras for nesting terrain

Due to possible harassment, the ELY Center in Central Finland has launched a camera surveillance at Laukaa’s Kuusaa Huuhkajakarevir.

Several cameras have been installed early in the year. They record the nesting terrain, the ELY Center can look remotely on the image of the cameras both as a recording and straight.

Supervision continues to be nesting, at least until early summer.

According to Hakkar, the camera surveillance of the authorities is quite rare nationwide. In Central Finland, there is a conscious need to make control of birds of prey, such as the eagle, the chicken and the owl in certain territories.

– Last year there have been fifty places to follow. In this form, the camera surveillance of Huuhkaja is now the first of its kind in Central Finland.

Birds of prey shot for nests

Hakkari notes that the hustlers were persecuted as birds of prey for a long time after the early 20th century. The mother birds were shot in the nests and, as a result, the female rumors survived those who are easily left in the nest. Huuhkaja was not calmed all year round until the 1970s.

– It is a marginal phenomenon, but deliberate persecution of the hustlers, even for the purpose of killing, is still occasionally observed.
