The study covers the travel and representation expenses of the current management for the period 2017-2022.
Today, the National Gallery announced that it will launch an internal investigation, which will investigate the travel expenses and representation expenses of the current management of the art institution
– The investigation is being conducted because the public has raised doubts about whether the National Gallery has used public money appropriately. This money is related to travel, networking and representation expenses, sums up CEO Levä.
The report focuses on the years 2017–2022. If wrongdoings occur, according to Levä, they will be corrected with collection and possible disciplinary measures.
– Of course, the expectation is that nothing like this will be found. However, the report gives us a good basis for evaluating our current guidelines and practices and whether there is a need to revise them.
According to Kimmo Levä, the National Gallery has a great responsibility as a user of public money.
– Even though we are a foundation under public law, we are looked at like a state actor. We have a very big responsibility to use the money both legally and correctly.
