We put together a list of pink Christmas-themed feel-good books. Pick up some tips for yourself or as gifts, and don’t forget to bring some chocolate and tissues.
In lean times, you need a dose of levity. We’ve put together a selection of this year’s Christmas books.
However, in a Gothic vein, the story also has its ghosts and plenty of drama. A perfect escape from reality!
A wish for Santa: a happy mother
You can probably guess the plot already. That’s not the most important thing in this kind of literature, it’s the wit, the fun and the atmosphere, and that’s what Bolouri does.
The book combines the themes of Christmas and motherhood. All the waiting! Three women meet in a group of mothers expecting a Christmas baby. The power of women’s friendship, tears and laughter, and the wonderful and embarrassing moments of pregnancy. All this is promised between the red covers. Best eaten in pajamas, reserve enough chocolate and nesses on the side.
Murder to put Christmas stress aside
In the books, Ruth investigates murders as well as the interpersonal twists of her own life. *Ruth Galloway’s Christmas* (Tammi) is a miniature novel, and it doesn’t have time for corpses to appear like the detective stories in the series. The book is about Ruth’s Christmas with her one-year-old daughter, so in terms of time it is already placed between the fourth and fifth detective stories in the series.
Ruth doesn’t care about Christmas, but for the sake of her daughter she tries everything. Too much. And it’s familiar to any mother of the family – even though most of us don’t have druids to help us with Christmas arrangements.
If Christmas really takes a toll on your brain, you can completely escape to the murders. They are to be found in the collection of top domestic detective stories *24 nights to Christmas* (January).
As the name suggests, the book contains 24 stories in which chilling crimes and sad human destinies occur. These are not cozy crimes, but partly very brutal stories. Christmas stress is guaranteed to be forgotten with these. Maybe a night’s sleep too.
Audiobook favourites bake
Along with the frantic baking and renovation, there are also secrets and interpersonal conflicts, and the reader again anticipates the twists and turns of the plot, as is typical of the genre. And relief for busy people: a smooth story is quick to read or listen to.
In this book, too, there is baking, first in London’s Notting Hill and then preparing for Christmas at home in Sweden, until dark family secrets are revealed.
And if you’re still not in the mood for Christmas, we use a powerful weapon: childhood memories. Let’s travel to Melukylä, Kissankulma and Huvikumpu.
*Is your favorite Christmas book missing from the list? Have you read these? You can discuss the topic on 22.12. until 11 p.m.*
