Didrichsen Art Museum removes suspected fake from Särestöniemi anniversary exhibition
The authenticity of the work on display at the exhibition is in doubt.
The Didrichsen Art Museum has removed a suspected forgery from the ongoing highly acclaimed exhibition World Beach – Reidar Särestöniemi 100 years. Hufvudstadsbladet reports.
This was noticed by an expert at the Särestöniemi Museum.
– Such expertise is very rare in Finland. The work was selected for the exhibition on the basis of the photograph. At the time, we had no doubts about its authenticity, but when it was physically displayed and an expert was present, our suspicions were aroused,” says Maria Didrichsen.
The suspicion of authentication is based, for example, on the atypical thin thin thinner of the paint surface, the abnormal name of the work, and the form of a work that is not square.
This is a * silver -bearded Janki, which is privately owned, descends from the fell *.
\”An unfortunate situation for us and, of course, the owner of the work, who once acquired it in good faith,\” says Maria Didrichsen.
The Central Criminal Police is investigating the case. In addition to counterfeiting, possession of a counterfeit is a crime.
Reidar Särestöniemi is 100 years since the birth of Särestöniemi. Nature plays a major role in the celebration exhibition of the Helsinki Didrichsen Art Museum.
